We live in Bad Sassendorf Weslarn, a small idyllic village in the Soester Börde

As natives of Dortmund, we moved to Bad Sassendorf in 2006 and fulfilled our dream of living under one roof with our dogs and horses. Dwarf goats and a small flock of chickens now enrich our lives.

Our dogs are family members who live with us in the house and yard. Our small horse boarding business and our dog boarding facility give them plenty of variety and contact with other people, children and of course dogs. The dogs love to transform our riding hall into a large dog playground with a race track. When they feel the sand under their paws, there's no stopping them.

“We” are Bettina and Thomas Rutenhofer, lovers of the wonderful breeds “Whippet and Irish Wolfhound” and breeders in the WCD e. V./IWC e. V./VDH.

We have been Irish Wolfhound owners for over 30 years and started breeding in 2015.

In recent years we have had more and more contact with Whippets at joint exhibitions and have fallen more and more in love with these lively and sensitive sighthounds.

In 2023 we took the step and started looking for a Whippet girl and soon Wally of gentle mind moved in with us.

A small Whippet with 6 Irish Wolfhounds? Is that even possible?

Our concern that “it wouldn’t work” immediately vanished into thin air.

Wally is a playmate for our youngest, a cuddle partner for the older ones and a huge enrichment in our lives. Wally is simply great.

We are now very happy to start our Whippet breeding with our Wally of gentle mind in 2024.
